Application and special features

The main advantage of lacquer is that it is non-flammable and odourless. It is used like a solvent-based lacquer, except that on certain types of wood, it may cause the fibres to rise slightly. It can also be applied to any porous surface (slate, brick, etc.).

Mainly used on toys and decorative items. The addition of water-based polyurethane resin gives the film increased resistance to chemical and mechanical damage. The lacquer has good filling power, but with certain colours, particularly yellow, it is advisable to apply a white primer, which will enhance the finish and the visual and tactile appearance of your substrates and reduce the number of coats of lacquer required. This will provide superior coverage, hiding certain defects in the wood, such as knots, dark veins and stains. Clean and rinse all application tools thoroughly with water before drying, as the quality of the resins used means that the lacquer will not soften or peel after drying. Please consult us if you have any cleaning problems.
