The Golf 1 Cabriolet succeeded the Beetle Cabriolet in 1979. It was far ahead technically for the time and nicknamed "the Strawberry Basket". What for? because of its fixed roll bar that ensured the safety of passengers and an optimal anchor point for seat belts. VW gave as the launch slogan of this roofless golf course: "Sun, Moon and Cabriolet"!
