The two ranges of EN71-3 toy standard nail polishes — comparative guide

To best guide your finishing choices, here is a summary of the three ranges of varnishes offered by Au Bois Enchanté, each of which meets specific uses.

1. EN71-3 toy standard acrylic varnish — interior

This professional-grade translucent acrylic varnish is the benchmark for all wooden toys and games. Compliant with EN71-3, it is phthalate-free and meets the saliva standard, making it perfectly safe for toddlers. It is available in three aspects: matte, satin and glossy. It is advisable to apply two coats for optimal hold over time. The cleaning of the tools is done with water.

2. Acrylic food varnish

This translucent food polish is designed for wood surfaces in direct contact with food: fruit bowls, cheese trays, worktops, bowls and plates. Its acrylic formulation can withstand a maximum contact temperature of 45 °C. Like toy polish, it is applied in two coats for a flawless finish and can be cleaned with water.
